Yared
Olivelli.

Visual artist. Educator.
Observer of the worlds within.

Born in Dessie, Ethiopia, in 1985, Yared Olivelli is a contemporary visual artist and lecturer in Graphic Art based in Addis Ababa. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Art from Addis Ababa University in 2010.

His practice explores the emotional and psychological aspects of belonging. Fluid compositions bring figures, landscapes and memories together, blending abstraction with suggestion.

Yared is interested in the capacity of images to convey feeling without explanation. His intuitive process allows elements to take shape, dissolve and reappear, opening space for viewers to encounter their own memories and associations.

Alongside his studio practice, he has taught Graphic Art at Addis Ababa University’s Alle School of Fine Arts and Design since 2010, mentoring emerging artists and contributing to exhibitions, academic projects and public engagement.
